What are the risks that a child will be denied citizenship of Chile?

There are discrepancies that confuse many people who consider Chile as a citizenship for a child. These discrepancies are based on the fact that there are a number of clarifications of the status of parents during childbirth in Chile. The Constitution and laws of the country state that the “right of soil” is granted only to children born to persons who are not diplomatic workers or tourists.

However, based on the UN resolutions observed in Chile and the decisions of the Chilean courts, in order for a child to obtain citizenship, it is sufficient for the parents to declare that they live in Chile and are not here as tourists. It is forbidden to request the legality of residence and/or stay in Chile! Thus, any child born in Chile, if desired by the parents, receives Chilean citizenship.

What should I do to be sure?

If you want to protect yourself, it is also not difficult, there are other types of visas that will give you confidence that the child will have Chilean citizenship - both by law and by UN resolutions. Some such visas are made in your country of permanent residence and you arrive in Chile with them (a rentier visa or a businessman/investor visa), some can be done on the spot, although the process will be somewhat more complicated.
